September 09
We record some timeless vocal sessions with Dana Snyman and Toast Coetzer for
the 'Weg' brand. The special way in which the author reads his own stories are
truly gripping! Bunn Booyens and Albert Du Plessis oversee this special event.
I finalize mixes for the Koos
Kombuis album and Zinkplaat
album. All is sounding great with everybody happy with the final product!
The beautiful sounding Abokonyise Brothers with legendary vocal producer, Elvis
Hermanns, record their new accapella vocal album. Their hard work is paying off.
Great sounding original African songs that will stand South Africa proud
in the rest of the world.
We record a track for Storm
Rekordz featuring Danie Niehaus. The song is produced by the super cool Simon
Orange. What a great production of an epic classic!
August 09
Pieter Dorfling flies in from London to record the first half of his album due
for release in 2011. Kevin Gibson, Schalk Joubert, Calla Henn and Melissa
van der Spuy forms the backing band. The tracks are sounding great! Pieter's
passion and songwriting is realized in the music.
Luna returns for some
more sessions. All the rhythm tracks are finished and all that's left are
guitar, vocal and string sessions.
We begin tracking the new Koos
Kombuis album with Schalk Joubert heading production. It's a minimalist approach
with Koos doing most of the guitar tracks live. No click tracks, just pure soulful
music. Melissa van der Spuy, Lesley Rae Dowling, Nina Holm, Vernon Swart, Tim
Parr, Andrew Beck and Schalk van der Merwe add their 'spices' to create another
timeless classic.
Jax
Panik is back for more sessions. He has an amazing ability to conceive
super-likeable songs! We do more vocal sessions and some mixing...

Zinkplaat
is back to finalize recordings for their upcoming album release in October 09.
I admire their passion and 'guts' to follow their hearts in writing and
recording music that's not following trends or focusing on the mass commercial
market. The album is a true reflection of a band 'living' their music.
I do some vocal sessions with Francois from Van
Coke Kartel.
Bravo is back for some more vocal recordings.
Luna record some more
tracks. Her album is tacking shape and if all goes to plan, we will finish in
October 09.
Jax
Panik records some more material. It's been a long process but the result
is great!

Gerald Clark is back in the studio to record his new blues driven album. All
tracks are recorded live with only vocals and selected instrumentals overdubbed.
This album is a true representation of a band playing live. Most vocal tracks
are 'one-takes'! Gerald is a true master at his craft!
Luna record some more tracks for her upcoming release in late 2009. Jax
Panik is back for his scheduled monthly sessions. The songs are
pumping....!

I start mixes for the Pretty
Blue Guns album. These guys rock! - Great lyrics, great songs, great
playing! We start vocal recording sessions for vocal quartet, 'Bravo'. These
guys can really sing! - and they are backed by legendry producer Bennie
Robinson. Jax
Panik is back for some more sessions. The combination of great songs,
amazing performance and attention to detail is proving to create world class
hits. Jax is going too make a huge global impact in 2010!

is back to record 2 new songs. I do some more mixes for Nimbus Experience and
mixes for Unison are finalized. We do more recordings and mixes for Jax
Panik's awesome new tracks.

Jason's back from
London with great new ideas for more Harrison
songs! We record material for Leni Coetzee's piano Christmas album. Wayne
and Benjamin from the The
Stremes are back in the studio and we finish vocal and guitar recording for
the new album, 'New digital romance'.
We record more vocal tracks for Jax
Panik's upcoming album and I get to mix 2 more songs. If you liked his first
album, this one's gonna blow you away!

I record and mix new tracks for
Luna
Paige's cyber launch. I mix some tracks of Zinkplaat's new project. We
record the new Pretty
Blue Guns album with Schalk Joubert heading production. Great new sound and
legendary songs will stand this band to become a major hit. More Jax
Panik material gets recorded and Melissa van der Spuy and I a.k.a. Poppie Bongo
Productions, compose and create the theme logo and station ID for the
new Koowee channel (307) on DSTV.

More ground-breaking tracks are recorded for the Harrisongalaxy.com
project. We record and mix Melanie
Scholtz's new solo album due for release with Norwegian producer Ole
Jørn Myklebust. The live band takes are amazing and Melanie's vocal
takes elevates the whole project to a new level.
I produce the first single for Unison's upcoming release. More tracks for the
new Zinkplaat album are
recorded. Koos Kombuis records a theme track for Beyerskloof
wine estate. Jax Panik is back in the studio for new material destined for his
2nd album.

Recording sessions for Mari are finished and I am still wowed by this great
experience! Mari and her band are such great musicians and I am honored to have
made new friends!

Zinkplaat
records new tracks for their album release in early 2009. The band, their songs
and musicianship has grown over the last number of years and the new songs are a
testament to this. They are firmly secured in the music scene and is sure to
rock South Africa on the MK
3de Avontoer!
Mari Boine and her
band travels all the way from Norway to record her new album. We have a great
time and I learn a lot from producer Svein Schultz. We do amazing collaborations
with Dizu Plaatjies, Mandosini, Elvis Hermans & Abokondizi Brothers and Gorm
Helfjord.

Mixing for Leon's album is finished. The album is destined to achieve great
things!
Jax Panik is back in the studio to finish his long-awaited album. We do some
vocal sessions and I get to mixing the new tracks.

Tracking for Leon's album comes to an end and I start with the mix. Lize
Beekman writes and produces the new "Pasella" theme for SABC2.

Pre-production starts for Leon
Schoeman's upcoming album. We begin tracking
with Barry van Zyl, Schalk Joubert, Melissa van der Spuy and Juan Oosthuizen as
session band. Lize Beekman ads some of her brilliant songwriting input to some
of the songs, as well as writing some new material. The album is packed with
amazing songs and everybody is very exited with the amazing potential of the
album.

More New Holland tracks are recorded and we finalize overdubs. Mixing for
their album starts. The project is effortlessly taking shape into an epic debut
album from this great band.
We record 2 new songs for Luna. David Klassen, Schalk Joubert and Willem Moller
is her studio band and the result is amazing. She's a great songwriter with a
great voice. The tracks are to be released online soon...
Valiant Swart & Ollie Viljoen record the new theme song and incidental music
for the new 'Voetspore' adventure program to be aired on SABC2.

We record more tracks for New
Holland's upcoming album. Their energy is contagious...
Peter Mitchell and Albert Du Plessis do some tracks combining Breyten
Breytenbach vocal samples to their music. The result is amazing... Check out 'Die
Eed'
Nightfall record a new single. The band is tighter than ever with
larger-than-life guitar sounds emanating from their Mesa Boogie stack, supported
by tight modern rhythm tracks and toped of with a brilliant vocal performance.

We record and mix an amazing track for the Cape Town, Mathew Rice Trio. With
their unique combination and fusion of instruments they create beautiful music.
New Holland record their first tracks to be included in their
upcoming album. The band manages to do amazing faultless live band takes. Their
energy is overwhelming and they stand out as a real 'band'. They have an
international sound and ability to produce their studio album live on stage!
Piet Potent record and mix 2 solid 'live' hip hop tracks with DJ
Naaldekoker scratching to insane live drum&bass rhythm tracks, funky guitars
and Cape-style hip hop vocals. A very unique combination with awesome synergy!
The 2 day SAMA
event is amazing! Congratulations to all the winners, especially to David
Langemann for his engineering job with Freshly Ground.

Mixes for 'Dikazzins' are finished. This album rocks!
We do more gaming and event singles for the British based 'Harrison' project.
The first limited edition vinyl single for the track 'Dinosaur' is ready for
release in the UK.
'Die
Lewens van die Toegstikte' record 2 thundering singles. I am confident that
this band will go big soon.

for it being chosen as official team track!

and the sessions go down perfectly. Great songs performed perfect. - This album
will definitely go big...

Kombuis' album, 'Bloedrivier" are finalized. This album packs a mean
punch! Critics are already in awe of the product and it's message.

'steamroller' White Buzz album are finished. - This album hits you like a ton of
bricks!

Mixing for the Orange Stiletto's debut album starts. We
record a new Valiant Swart album. The plan was to go back to his unplugged
origins, but as we record more elements are added. The album turns out an absolute
gem showcasing his amazing songwriting abilities. A must have for all fans!
White Buzz record their second album. It's hard and loud! - and extremely addictive...

Recording sessions for legendary South African Folk Hero, Koos
Kombuis,
starts. He is backed by his First National Band and seasoned artists as well as
young upcoming stars. Check out the photos!
The album gained massive momentum with everybody adding their spontaneous
input and brilliant musicianship. This album will definitely go down as a masterpiece
in history!

We start recording sessions for the Orange
Stiletto's debut album. Early through
tracking we realize that something unique and very special is taking shape. This
beautiful, super-musical and quirky duet are making history with their undefined
brand of music...? Everybody involved are super amped and exited to be part of
this great album. Mixing of Laurinda's
album continues and we sneak in some
sessions for Harrison.

Lize's album is mixed and selected mixes for Laurinda's album starts. We do a
demo for the Orange Stillettos' upcoming album.

We start tracking for Lize Beekman's
album due for release in early 2008. Her international acclaimed songwriting
skills are realized in 'live' recording sessions producing a sound and feel
unheard of in the latest trends. Juan Oosthuizen, David Klassen, Melissa van der
Spuy and Schalk Joubert add their special input and feel, to make this a classic
product in every aspect.

Mixes on Zinkplaat's are finalized. We do
more sessions for Harrison's ongoing
project. Release of the first album is eminent, with 2 music video's and cell phone
game already completed. We compose, record and mix the worldwide-first 'mozzi' ring tone,
based on Harrison's 'Dinosaur' hit.
Recording sessions for the new Laurinda
Hofmeyr album starts, with legendary producer/bassist, Schalk Joubert
heading production. This 'world' album grooves like crazy, with Kevin Gibson and
David Klassen laying insane drum and percussion tracks.

We start production of the new Zinkplaat
album. These guys have proven to be one step ahead with their innovative sound.
Expect a totally new 'Afrikaans' rock sound embracing the current British
'authentism' trend.

by Die Melkert Kommissie starts. Their new material shows their evolution over
the last 5 years into one of the top original Afrikaans rock bands in SA.

Record and mix acoustic finger-picking-style guitar album for Tinus van Dyk. A
great 'live' performance with amazing string additions by Jan Hendrik Harley.
I record and mix a lullaby CD for Lize Beekman in aid for the Red Cross
Children's Hospital. An outstanding performance, showcasing her skill as
songwriter, musician and multi lingual vocalist.
Gerald's album gets mixed.
