The Banhoek Valley

Sunset Recording Studios are located on Wechmarshof
Estate in
the Banhoek valley just outside Stellenbosch.
(approximately 60km from Cape Town).
Wechmarshof estate was born in the early 1930's by Bernard and Edith
von Wechmar and transformed form a dairy and cheese farm with its legendary Wechmarshof
Camembert and Brie cheeses into a leader in the production and research of bio-organic
compost. The estate's European look and feel make it a world renown filming
location. Michael Schumacher, Hugh Hudson and Michael Serrason amongst others, have all agreed that the farm is one of the most beautiful
places they have ever visited.
In 1995 the old cheese factory was converted into Sunset Recording Studios, which
has become one of South Africa's most famous and respected recording and mixing
facilities.

The studio complex is housed in the old
Wechmarshof cheese factory of which the internal structure
was customized and acoustically treated in order to obtain the right room acoustics.
Adjacent to the studio building is Tim Lengfeld’s mastering studio.

In order to provide an accurate and detailed monitoring environment the
